Job Description: Cook for Day Provision for young adults aged 19-25 with complex learning and/or physical difficulties.

Responsible to: Centre Manager

Hours: 10am -2pm Mon - Fri (20 hours per week)

Pay: £8.50 Per Hour

Role and Responsibilities -

  • Purchase, prepare, cook and present high quality, healthy and nutritious food within budget and with minimum wastage.

  • Create menu plans that are appropriate, appetising and cater for our clients’ dietary requirements.

  • Proactively seek best value products and supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels.

  • Place an on-line weekly shopping order based on the menu requirements.

  • Keep accurate records of supplies and costs, providing detailed accounts to the Centre manager on a monthly basis.

  • Work in collaboration with the centre manager, senior support assistant and leader of learning to develop ways in which food purchasing can be incorporated into learning activities for the clients

  • Responsible for the effective daily management of the kitchen by maintaining high standards to ensure a clean, tidy, safe and pleasant environment.

  • Work alongside the Management Team to ensure compliance with all legal and company requirements for fire, safety, health, food handing, storing and hygiene and that necessary paperwork is completed.

  • Maintain an excellent understanding and working knowledge of all aspects of Health and Safety e.g. Risk Assessments, COSHH etc.

  • Check premises daily and remove or action any potential hazards and raise and any concerns to the Centre Manager.

  • Liaise with outside agencies i.e. Environmental Health Officers and suppliers to ensure high standards of food hygiene and quality of supplies are maintained

  • Responsible and lead on any inspections relating to the kitchen areas e.g. Environmental Health.

  • Attend and comply with any training on Health and Safety, Food Safety, etc.

  • Promote good hygiene practices, maintain high standards of cleanliness and comply with current dress and personal hygiene regulations.

  • Keep accurate and up to date records including but not limited to:

  • Budgets, receipts and delivery paperwork

  • Health and safety reporting and documentation

  • Service agreements

  • Hazard reporting

  • Support the Centre Manager in handling any compliments and

  • Offer excellent levels of customer service to all clients and visitors.

  • Work in co-operation and partnership with the FHL team and parents/carers to encourage a healthy and nutritious diet for clients.

  • Support, promote, implement and adhere to all policies as appropriate to your job role.
