2021 so far!

It's been a while but don't worry there's plenty to catch up on. Have a look at what we've been up to so far this year!

Due to lockdown the amount of outings we've been able to do has been very limited so we've had to come up with plenty of fun ideas in house. Luckily there's been lots for us to do.

For starters we have our weekly sessions with BoomChikkaBoom

Faye even allowed us to have our very own carnival one of the weeks.

I don't know who enjoyed it more though our young people or the staff themselves.

We've also been lucky to have our twice weekly music therapy sessions continue to run. This has allowed our clients to explore their worlds through various different musical instruments and sounds while creating their own beats and music.

We've celebrated a number of holidays around the world, such as Chinese New Year, Valentines Day & St Patricks Day.

The team has grown and we have had Thomas Sadler join us as our new Leader of Education. Tom was very excited to get started and he's got stuck in form the get go. He's gotten his hands dirty (quite literally sometimes) and he has some big ideas in store for the rest of the year so just watch this space.

We've also been very lucky to team up with a local gym (ProFit28). they kindly offered us the use of their gym and facilities, which has been very beneficial for our young people. It's helped to ensure we can stay healthy within a safe environment and we look forward to continuing this partnership with them after lockdown.

While we've had to find new ways to keep ourselves busy inside we have still been able to go out and explore our local community. We've been exploring how our environments change when Spring arrives and scouting out new activities for us to do once lockdown is lifted. Of course we also sneaked in an ice cream or two.

Before we knew it we were at Easter and Easter wouldn't be complete without making some Easter bonnets, eating chocolate and even an Easter egg hunt. We even went to Pudsey park who had put on a special Easter treat with local people creating Easter crafts and hanging them from the trees.

It's not just our young people who've been super busy, our amazing team have also been hard at work to help get our BRAND NEW site open. On April 6th 2021 FHL South opened its doors for the first time and we couldn't be more excited. The new site has been modelled off of our West site so we will be able to do the same fun activities we already do. A big shout out to the management team who've worked tirelessly to ensure we met our deadline and have it open ready for our uys to come in. We can't wait to invite you all down for our first open day.

So as you can see we've been rather busy even with limited activities outdoors but that won't stop us from having fun. It looks like everything is slowly beginning to open back up and we look forward to getting back out and involved within the community. Keep those eyes peeled for further updates, or join our Facebook page where we post regular updates of what we've been up to.
